Terms of Service
Effective November 3, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Roster (“Roster,” “we,” “us”) about using roster.design and its related services. By joining the waitlist, creating a profile, or using Roster, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Roster.
1. Who can use Roster
- You must be at least 16 years old and able to form a binding agreement.
- Roster is invite-only. Joining the waitlist does not guarantee an invite, and we may decide who gets one.
- Give us accurate information. Do not pretend to be someone else, and keep one account per person.
2. Your account
You sign in with one-time codes sent to your email, so you are responsible for keeping that mailbox secure. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has used it. Invite codes are for the person they were issued to; do not sell or mass-distribute them.
3. Your content
- You own it. You keep ownership of your profile, posts, images, and anything else you upload (“Your Content”).
- You give us permission to show it. You grant Roster a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, resize, display, and distribute Your Content as needed to run and promote Roster, for example showing your profile, posts, and homepage card, and creating thumbnails. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that remain in backups for a short time.
- You are responsible for it. You promise that you have the rights to post it, that it is your own work or you have permission to show it (including work made for an employer or client), and that it does not break the law or anyone’s rights.
4. Rules of the road
Roster exists to help real designers get hired. You agree not to:
- Create fake, misleading, or impersonating profiles, or post work that is not yours.
- Post spam, scams, or content generated in bulk to game the platform.
- Harass, threaten, or discriminate against anyone, or post hateful, sexually explicit, violent, or illegal content.
- Upload malware, or try to break, overload, probe, or bypass the security or limits of Roster.
- Scrape, copy, or harvest Roster’s data, member information, or contact details, or use them to send unsolicited messages.
- Use Roster in a way that violates any law or someone else’s rights.
5. People who are hiring
Roster offers tools for hiring managers, recruiters, and employers, including connection requests and a jobs board. If you use them, you agree to contact members only about real opportunities, to be honest about the role and your company, to respect members’ choices, and to follow any limits we set. Jobs you post must be real, open roles that you are allowed to fill, with accurate details, and may not ask applicants to pay anything or discriminate against anyone. Job listings are public, and we may hide, close, or remove any job. Posting is free through December 31, 2026. After that we may charge for posting or featuring a job, and we will tell you the price before you pay. Designers can send a limited number of job connection requests each month, and should send them only for roles they are genuinely interested in. We may remove access at any time to protect members.
6. Our rights
We may review, hide, or remove any profile, post, or content, and suspend or end any account, at our discretion, including if we think these terms are being broken or a profile is fake, spammy, or harmful. We will try to be fair, but we may act without notice when needed to protect Roster or its members. We may change, pause, or end any part of Roster.
7. Ending your account
You can stop using Roster at any time. You can delete your account yourself from your profile screen, which removes your profile and content as described in the Privacy Policy. Parts of these terms that by their nature should survive, such as ownership, disclaimers, and limits of liability, will survive.
8. No promises about jobs
Roster is a place to share your work and be found. We do not guarantee that you will be contacted, interviewed, or hired, or that anyone will hire through Roster. We are not an employer or a recruiting agency, and we are not a party to any arrangement between members and employers. Do your own checks on any opportunity.
9. Our property
Roster’s name, logo, design, and software belong to us or our licensors. These terms do not give you any right to use them, except to use the service as intended. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.
10. Disclaimers
Roster is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise that Roster will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that content posted by members is accurate.
11. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Roster and the people who run it will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or opportunities, arising from your use of Roster. Our total liability for any claim relating to Roster will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
12. If there is a dispute
Please contact us first at hello@roster.design and we will try to work it out. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state where Roster’s operator is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the courts located in that state, and you agree to their jurisdiction.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If the changes are significant, we will tell members by email or on the site before they take effect. If you keep using Roster after the change, you accept the new terms.
